Platinum Group Metals Corporation raises the bar with IMS certification

Surigao del Norte, Philipppines. October xx, 2022. Platinum Group Metals Corporation (PGMC), the second-largest value exporter of nickel ore in the country and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Global Ferronickel Holding’s Inc. (FNI), has received ISO certification for its Integrated Management System (IMS) in relation to its Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015), Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001:2018) and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015). The certification is applicable to all activities in the mining operations of nickeliferous laterite ore and other associated minerals from planning to ore production, hauling, loading and port operations. An IMS integrates all of an organization’s systems and processes into one complete framework, enabling an organization to work as a single unit with unified objectives.

“After receiving the Presidential Award for surface mining category during the 2021 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA), which is the highest honor given by the industry, this sets another milestone achievement for PGMC in our pursuit to become one of the most admired responsible mining companies in the country,” said Dante R. Bravo, President of FNI.

The IMS certification given out by Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, is valid for the next three years. During the audit, Intertek cited the Company’s unwavering commitment to implement and improve its Quality Management System, Occupational Health and Safety Management System and Environmental Management System, proper documentation of information, greenery development especially its tree-planting efforts covering more than 100 hectares of land outside the mine site, and its water and sediment control wherein the Company constructed more than 170 environmental structures including settling ponds, sediment traps, collector sumps and silt boxes.

PGMC is primarily engaged in the exploration, mining and exporting of nickel ore located in the municipality of Claver, Surigao del Norte. Mining season is from April to October during the dry months of the year.
